Programmer/Analyst Apply Now

Working as a member of the I.T. team and reporting to the Supervisor of Software Development, the role of the Programmer/Analyst is to write, modify and test software programs both locally and globally.

The Programmer/Analyst’s role is also to assist in troubleshooting and providing systems support for all levels of the organization including the maintenance and management of day-to-day processes.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and Support company software
  • Assist users with hardware and/or software problems
  • Work with all levels of the organization to analyze and define their requirements
  • Design, write, modify, test, implement and support software programs with good QA
  • Work directly with the I.T. team members to assist in maintenance and support of day-to-day automated processes
  • Prepare and document program requirements and specifications
  • Communicate the status of projects and issues to other I.T. team members as needed
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and departmental documentation
  • Assist in software improvements and upgrades
Competencies & Skills
  • College Diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or software engineer and (5) years equivalent experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of programming languages ( including SQL )
  • Practical application of the System Development Life Cycle
  • Extensive Database and operating systems experience
  • Hands-on software troubleshooting experience
  • Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to multi- task efficiently
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization
  • Strong knowledge of Access, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of ERP system (preferred: Sage X3)
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint, EDI , SAP Crystal reports
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment

Location: Guelph, Ontario, Canada

Shift: Afternoon Shift (Monday-Thursday 4:20pm-2:20am)

Summary of Duties

The successful applicant will be required to set up and operate a variety of brake presses in the production of electrical enclosures.

  • The ability to understand and comprehend shop drawings and technical documentation
  • Ability to use measurement equipment to verify product dimensions and specifications
  • Strong technical ability to understand and demonstrate shop math
  • The ability to use and understand how to operate a PC to navigate the production ERP system and call upon drawings/BOM for each order
  • The ability to follow established policies, procedures and production schedules
  • The ability to work with others through excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to have an excellent attention to detail and be quality focused
  • Position requires heavy lifting and overhead reaching- will be required to attend press safety training
