SECTION 27 11 16 – COMMUNICATIONS CABINETS, RACKS, FRAMES, AND ENCLOSURES
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. This section includes requirements for wall-mount equipment racks for telecommunications equipment.
B. Product specified: Hammond Manufacturing SDC Series Wall Mount Cabinet.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer shall be ISO 9001 certified.
B. Product shall be RoHS compliant.
C. Equipment shall be manufactured in North America.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS
A. Basis of Design: Hammond Manufacturing – SDC Series
B. Substitutions: Not permitted without prior approval.
2.2 WALL MOUNT CABINET

Wall-mount cabinet shall be Hammond Manufacturing SDC Series, model SDC__U__BK (refer to schedule for specific RU and depth).

Cabinet construction shall be formed and welded from 16-gauge steel for strength and rigidity.

Cabinet shall be factory assembled and ready for installation upon delivery.

Cabinet shall support wall, ceiling, under-desk, or floor mounting configurations without modification.

Overall dimensions and usable rack units shall match project requirements (refer to schedule).

Rack-mount rails shall be 19" EIA-310 compliant, made of 16-gauge steel, and depth adjustable.

Rack-mount rails shall be removable to accommodate non-rackmount equipment.

Rails shall be pre-punched to accept cage nuts for secure equipment mounting.

Cabinet shall include side cutouts to accommodate cable entry or optional fan kits.

Cabinet shall include removable side handles to assist with transport and installation.

Cabinet shall support a wall-mount load capacity of 150 lb (68 kg) with rails, and 50 lb (22 kg) without rails.

Cabinet shall support a floor-mounted load capacity of 800 lb (363 kg).

Finish shall be phosphate pre-treated and finished in textured black powder coat, RAL 9005.

Cabinet shall be RoHS compliant.

Cabinet shall be manufactured in a facility certified to ISO 9001 standards.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install cabinet in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and project drawings.
B. Coordinate with other trades for power, grounding, and cabling requirements.
C. Securely mount cabinet to specified structural surface using trades-recommended hardware.
3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Inspect installed cabinet for damage, alignment, and secure anchoring.
B. Verify rail alignment and depth to accommodate equipment.
3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
A. Remove all packing materials and debris from job site.
B. Protect cabinet finish from damage until final acceptance.
